microSD from BlackBerry to PC Formatting

image1307266975.jpgQuestion by LE SOUFFLE BLEU: microSD from BlackBerry to PC / FORMAT the device?
I use in my BlackBerry 8100 (Pearl) a “microSD” with 1 GB of capacity in which I store, pictures, documents, music and everything else so that it doesn’t affect the8 MB original memory. Now I want to copy it, back to my computer and my PC request me that first I have to “FORMAT” the “microSD”! * * * My question is, will I lose all the data stored on the device (microSD) once I allow to format to my PC or will the information stored stay? * * *
I buy a “microSD” with 2 GB for another BB 8100 and my PC accept it to me without asking to format it, and I was able to exchange all data without a problem, same brand “ScanDisk”! Thank you for their support!

Can you save apps on the BlackBerry memory card?

Posted on 02. Jun, 2010 by Lewis Smile in Questions

Can you save Apps to the BlackBerry memory card?

The answer is… SORT OF, but not in the way you think…

Using BlackBerry App World you can install apps to your device, and they will be saved to your internal device memory. So even if you bought a bigger memory card you could still only install a limited number, because the internal memory would fill up.

What you CAN use your Micro SD Card for is archiving apps, so instead of uninstalling them completely, you will be able to reinstall them at a later date without having to download them again.

A larger MicroSD memory card for your BlackBerry WILL allow you to…

• Save more photos
• Store more music
• Create more documents
• Install more ringtones
• And archive more apps

But you’re not able to install apps to run from the BlackBerry memory card.

Not yet, anyway!

P.S. When you buy a memory card I recommend going for the largest size you can afford, that your device will handle, because you never know what features will be unveiled in the future!

My computer doesn’t recognize the BlackBerry Memory Card!

Posted on 10. Apr, 2010 by Lewis Smile in Questions

If your laptop or computer doesn’t recognize your BlackBerry memory card, there is 1 likely cause.

You’ll first need to enable Mass Storage Mode on your BlackBerry.

You can do this by…

1. Going to the Options icon
2. Scrolling down to ‘Media Card’
3. And change the settings in there to….

Media Card Support: ON
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes

Now when you connect it to your laptop via USB cable you’ll see your blackberry will ask you to confirm by typing in your blackberry unlock password. This will allow your laptop to access the memory card.

And voila! You can now find your memory card as an extra drive in the ‘My Computer’ location on your laptop.

Buying a BlackBerry Memory Card

Posted on 06. Apr, 2010 by Lewis Smile in Questions

The memory inside your BlackBerry is split in two parts.

1. The internal device memory.
2. The memory card.

The internal device memory contains the BlackBerry operating system, your theme, settings, apps etc.

And the memory card, which can be upgraded for a larger size, contains all your music, photos, some apps, documents, etc.

The kind of memory card you need for your device is called a “Micro SD Card”. It’s really small, about the size of the finger nail on your little finger!

WARNING: “The Maximum Memory Card Size is Determined By Your BlackBerry Software, Not Your Device Model!”

Look at the graph below and see what your max size is:

A Micro SD card is cheap, so you don’t need to worry about running out of space!

BlackBerry Bold 9000 Memory Card

Posted on 06. Apr, 2010 by Lewis Smile in Questions

The BlackBerry Bold 9000 will hold a MicroSD card up to a maximum capacity of 32GB and under.

The maximum capacity that will work with your BlackBerry will depend on the version of your BlackBerryOS software.

You will be safe going for a 32GB with your Bold, but you’ll find it difficult to get hold of one! A card of that capacity is fairly new and very expensive. Your best deals are featured below.
